“Ask the Lord of the Harvest”

prayer

In the early 2000s while I was praying with my friend, I realized that Jesus gave his disciples a prayer that is not often recognized as a prayer. He told them that the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. He then gave his disciples the following prayer request: “Ask the Lord of the Harvest, therefore, to send out laborers into the harvest” (Matthew 9:38).

While pastoring in Indiana, I felt prompted to pray a bold prayer because of Ephesians 3:20, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all things that we ask or think, according to the power that is working in us…”, and so I prayed that the Lord would use me to lead 500,000 people into the Kingdom of God. As soon as I prayed this prayer, I perceived in my spirit that the number was too small.

Eventually in 2008, God led my family and me to move to Pennsylvania.  As I continued to pray and seek God’s direction, I perceived that this vision was not for me to accomplish by himself. I perceived in my spirit that I was to ask the Lord of the Harvest to send out 500 laborers for the harvest from Lancaster County to lead 500,000 people into His kingdom. I also perceived, “If your vision from God will not take your entire lifetime to accomplish, then your vision is too small.”

If you live in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, join me in regularly praying the following prayer:

Ask the Lord of the harvest to send out 500 laborers for the harvest from Lancaster County to lead 500,000 people into the Kingdom of God.

And for those of you living in other parts of the world, my hope is that you would be inspired by this and seek God’s leading in prayer to gain a similar prayer direction for your geographic location.
